A real-time location system (RTLS) is a technology that uses hardware devices and positioning algorithms to track the real-time location of people, assets, or vehicles indoors or outdoors. It typically consists of three components: tags, anchors, and a positioning engine. Blueiot RTLS works using Bluetooth AoA (Angle of Arrival) technology. Once anchors are deployed, their antenna arrays measure the pitch and heading angle of each incoming Bluetooth signal from a tag. Using the known height difference between tag and anchor, a single anchor computes 2D (X, Y) coordinates in real time, and intersecting angles from multiple anchors are triangulated to calculate full 3D (X, Y, Z) coordinates. The data is processed by the positioning engine and displayed on Blueiot's visualization platform for dynamic tracking of people, vehicles, and assets.
